I have a problem with the nplayers definable within VCP03

  • Hi everybody !!

    Sorry i don't speak german :D

Here's my problem, i'm new to mala, and i'm spending a lot of time to configure it...

Everything works fine but VCP03 don't want to show up the nplayers definable regarding to my nplayers.ini file.

I've tried with the multiplayers.ini file (nplayers designed for mame32) and the problem is still the same...

    I'm using mame.exe 0.118
my path to nplayers.ini is set in "Mame config/Additonal"
the layout is working fine (buttons and joystick showing correctly) but it doesn't want to show up the nplayers !! !

I just don't understand what's happening... Could someone help me please ?

I don't know if you need some additional infos to help me, if yes, please ask me and i'll reply quickly...

I've taken a look to the layout using the layout designer, the definable 1 is active, my path in "MAME Config/Pictures and video" is correctly set...

    Please help

Thanks a lot for your replies...

PS : MALA is so great !!! i want to use it in my future cab !!! 8)

  • Hi.

I'm sorry...I'm not so deep inside Mala to help you with your problem. I just wanted to let you know that loadman (also a user here) from Australia is posting in the BYOAC-Forum in USA, too. He knows a lot about Mala.

Just a hint, but I'm sure that Swindus will be able to help you :)

  • I've solved the problem, it's was all about the relative path set within the layout editor...

It's really strange because the controls definable and the buttons definable was working fine...

    Now here's another question...

I've downloaded the retro GUI layout, it's pretty good, but i wanted to change some stuffs in it...

I've completely redesigned the original layout so suit my needs but now i have a problem with the animations.

While inserting an animation, Mala loads very slowly (about 5 minutes after loading gui, the game list appears but the animation is broken.

I'm using a 800*600 design made of a jpeg file.
The animation file is also 800*600 an i'm activating transparency within the layout editor... But this doens't work , the gui don't load the game list, the only thing displayed is the background...

When i switch the animation file to the original one provided by retro GUI (the space invader ships scrolling from left to right) it works fine but the gui needs at least 5 minutes to display game list...

I've took a look at the original animation file, it's an indexed color file in png.
I've also tried to index my colors but i need 19 colors, do i have to use only one color to make it run properly ?
why is it loading so slowly? Is it an issue due to my computer ? (Athlon XP2000+ @ 1.666MHz + 1Gig SDRAM PC 133MHz) is it too slow for such a big layout ? (800*600) ?
I don't have enough time to resize my whole layout for testing purpose so if anyone can help me, i will feel very happy ! :D

Thanks a lot for your replies...
